L. Dawn Mason is a first-time author, who at seventy-two years old, is fulfilling a promise she made to her late husband Pat Mason, her partner, soulmate  and greatest love for thirty-five years. Before his passing in January 2014, Dawn promised Pat she would one day tell the story of their extraordinary love. In his final days, Pat gave the book its title, It Wasn't Supposed to Last, leaving Dawn with both a promise and a name to carry forward.
